Advent 2011
Our advent activities are well underway already. It’s hard to believe it’s December. I thought I might skip this one out this year due to sleep deprivation and feeling a bit taxed, but when I asked A what she looked forward to most about Christmas, she said that opening her envelopes each day was her favorite. So we obliged, but have done a stripped down version and have tried to incorporate family activities into the planning. Here is a picture of the calendar (the how-to is here) I made in 2010 and get to recycle year after year now!
Here’s what we have planned for the 24 days leading up to Christmas:
- pick out the Christmas tree with dad
-decorate the tree
- bake cookies (and wrap them for pre-school friends)
- make gifts for Oma’s
- make a number of crafts from the Martha Stewart website
- sleep in new X-mas jammies
- get food for food bank
- write and mail a letter to Santa
- pre-school X-mas party
- decorate Omi’s house
- Science World to see the (X-Mas) dinosaurs. Ok this one’s not really x-mas related, but it’s been a while since we’ve been there…
-watch a holiday movie and eat popcorn night
- paint nails pink and green
- decorate special gift bags for women’s shelter
- get holiday books from library
-Bright Nights @ Stanley Park
eTC.
We have lots of plans this season! A sleep consultant came last week and I am hoping she will bring an early Christmas present involving sleep when she sends her recommendations. I’ll add that to my own personal advent-to-do calendar!
